The Titan procedure using Cutera's Titan 1100-1800nm infrared hand piece is an exciting way of treating lax skin.
How it works..
The natural aging process, along with sun damage, causes collagen fibres to stretch and loosen, like a worn elastic band, resulting in less elastic skin that eventually starts to sag. Utilizing infrared light to heat the water within the dermis (the inner layer of skin where collagen lodges) to the point of collagen contraction. These collagen fibres tighten immediately and over time are supplemented by the integration of new fibroblasts (those superb cells that form collagen and elastin). Results have proven that your skin will not only look taut but will also feel a lot firmer.
Titan has been developed for those who wish to look younger yet do not want an invasive procedure. There are similar procedures to Titan, however these similar procedures can provoke some pain. This is due to the usage of radio-frequency energy, which dermatologists claim is much more intense and harder to control than light energy. Radio-frequency energy can also go too deep, breaking down the fat under the skin and resulting in dimpling, skin depression and unevenness. "With Titan, there is no risk of skin irregularity because it doesn't go deeper than the dermis,'' says dermatologist Bruce E. Katz, M.D, director of the JUVA Skin and Laser Centre in Manhattan.
Titan is suitable for any area of the face, neck or body. Wherever there are wrinkles or mild sagging caused by loose skin; the brow region, cheeks, jowls, neck, abdomen, thighs, backs of arms, elbows and knees.
