All about Lipogems
Lipogems is a futuristic fat and stem cell transfer system.
The Appearance Medicine and Wellness Centre currently use Lipogems in the following areas:
Facial regeneration – replacing fat pads in specific areas of the face
Knee joint degeneration
How much fat is taken and where from?
Only a small amount of fat needs to be removed – this is usually taken from either the stomach or the thighs. Alternatively, this fat can be harvested and injected at the same time as a full liposuction procedure (such as 3D abdomen or thighs).
What does the procedure involve?
You will usually be prescribed hypnovel – a short acting benzodiazepine (sedative) and Activan (to keep you relaxed during the procedure). A local aesthetic solution (with adrenaline added) is injected into the area before the fat is removed. It is usually the only form of anaesthesia needed for the procedure. The adrenaline helps reduce the amount of bruising and swelling. The solution also helps to soften the fat, enabling it to be removed more readily. The anaesthetic solution (with adrenaline) is removed from the fat cells (through the Lipogems system) before the cells are injected directly back into the body.
Professor Arnold Caplan, often referred to as the “the father of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)” describes Lipogems in the videos below:
