Medicinal Cannabis and Cannabidiol (CBD Oil)
About Medicinal Cannabis
We understand the huge potential cannabis and its extracts have as a medicine. Our doctors are educated in medicinal cannabis and can provide consultations, support and advice.
With the amount of positive research coming out surrounding the cannabis plant and all its potential therapeutic benefits, our doctors have taken specialist interest in this emerging branch of medicine and how to best treat our patients.
As of April 1st 2020, all medicinal cannabis products are prescription only. CBD oil is no longer a controlled drug that requires ministry approval, and medical cannabis products containing THC that have been assessed and approved by the Ministry of Health can also be prescribed.

What happens during an initial consultation?
The initial consult focuses on whether or not cannabis therapy is suitable for you. If it considered appropriate, we will complete the informed consent process which includes information about the cannabis, the costs involved, and how to receive the medication. We will also communicate with your regular GP to ensure everyone is on the same page, and answer any questions either you or your GP have.
What happens during a follow up consultation?
After 2-4 weeks of cannabis therapy, we will assess you to see how symptoms have changed. If there is a significant improvement, and you are happy with the results, we will adjust doses as necessary and repeat medications as necessary.
